West-MEC is a public high school district dedicated to providing innovative Career and Technical Education programs that prepare students to enter the workforce and pursue continuing education.

West-MEC was established in 2002. The district is governed by a seven-member board. It serves a huge region of 4,254 square miles, that is home to more than 1.1 million people.

Its funding comes from two sources: state appropriations and secondary property taxes from homeowners in the 12 school districts that comprise West-MEC. It is just one of the many, voter-approved, joint technological educaton districts throughout Arizona that gives students an introduction to a vast array of career services in more than 100 school districts, and fulfills a vital need in the education of our young adults.

Along with the state’s universities, its community colleges, and primary and secondary schools, joint technological education districts are one of the four legs of Arizona’s educational system. Each has its unique challenge to prepare Arizona students for the highly competitive workforce in our global economy.

West-MEC has distinguished itself as an innovative leader attuned to workforce needs, working in partnership with business, industry and community colleges. State-of-the-art equipment, unique programs and dedicated teachers combine to give students that all-important learning pathway for future success. By graduating highly skilled students with relevant skill sets, West-MEC produces skilled members for the Valley’s workforce and contributes to the region’s quality of life.
