BrookHaven Retirement Community was founded through the vision, determination, and collaboration of dedicated community leaders in Brookville, Ohio. In 1972, a group of civic leaders partnered with Brookville Village officials and the Community Improvement Corporation to address an important community need - the development of a local nursing home that would provide quality care for area residents. Following a feasibility study that confirmed the need, Brookville Enterprises, Inc. was formed on April 6, 1972, as an Ohio corporation supported by 40 local families who became shareholders committed to bringing this vision to life.
Over the next several years, community members united to make the project a reality by investing in shares, purchasing bonds, and supporting infrastructure development for the facility. Despite funding challenges, the organization’s directors remained steadfast, securing the resources needed to build the nursing home and establish operations. After seven years of planning, collaboration, and perseverance, BrookHaven officially opened in 1979 as a 100-bed nursing home. Today, BrookHaven Retirement Community continues that legacy by providing a trusted continuum of care for residents in Brookville and the surrounding communities, built on the same values of community commitment, compassion, and dedication that inspired its founding.
