EMPACT was founded in 1987 by Ilene Dode, Ph.D., with the vision of an agency that could address life-threatening behaviors by providing prevention, treatment, and emergency services.
EMPACT’s original name/acronym – Emergency Mobile Pediatric and Adolescent Crisis Team.
“Teens Talking to Teens” was one of the first agency programs established in 1988.
EMPACT’s “Survivors of Suicide” support program has been offered since the inception of the agency.
The Crisis Department and first Suicide Prevention Hotline were established in January 1990.
EMPACT was one of the first behavioral health agencies to offer in-home counseling services.
EMPACT became a member agency of La Frontera Arizona in 2004.
