Silver Star Communications

Silver Star Communications’ rich history began in 1912 by a group of ranchers and businessmen. Because the population was not large enough to attract the Bell Telephone Company to lower Star Valley Wyoming, the group utilized livestock fencing to carry telephone lines across the valley. In 1956, the Hoopes family purchased the company which has been owned by the family since that time.

Today, Silver Star continues to serve customers in eastern Idaho and western Wyoming. Our company continues to invest millions of dollars in its fiber optic network to deliver cutting-edge communications solutions including fiber optic, DSL, voice, and business solutions products and services. In 2022 Silver Star was named a Smart Rural Community provider by NTCA/The Rural Broadband Association. Smart Rural Community Providers is a national network of communities powered by innovative rural broadband providers that are building a brighter future for small-town America. The program promotes rural broadband and its role in supporting innovative economic development, effective education, efficient energy distribution and use, state-of-the-art health care, and other important issues for rural America.
