Home

The Waldorf School of St. Louis is a private, not-for-profit school that was founded in 1994 by a group of parents and educators who were inspired by the educational philosophy of Rudolf Steiner. The school is located in North Webster and serves students from preschool through 8th grade.

Originally named Shining Rivers, The Waldorf School of St. Louis started as a small preschool program and has since grown to include a full K-8 program. Today, the school is one of more than 1,000 Waldorf schools worldwide. The school has a diverse student body and a dedicated faculty and staff who work to provide a rich and engaging educational experience for each student. The school also has a strong commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

The Waldorf education philosophy emphasizes a holistic approach to education that integrates the arts, academics, and practical skills. The philosophy is based on the idea that each child has a unique destiny and that education should be tailored to meet the individual needs of each student.

We also hold Little Red Hen Play Groups for families with babies and toddlers that are free of charge and include play time in our Meadow play area and bread baking in our kitchen. Parent-Child classes bring together parents of toddlers to learn about different parenting styles and activities they can do at home with their children that downplay use of technology and based on child development research.
